We had a mad dash last night to make the post so Fliss could enter this month’s AdventureBox competition. I’m not quite sure what difference another day would have made but we had to peg it to the post box all the same and flagged the postman down as he was pulling away from the post box! Thankfully he took her entry when he saw the look of panic on her face!
For the competition, you simply have to answer a few simple questions and the prize is some great Caribbean children’s music.
So while Fliss and Mia have had their friends over today, I’ve had a really nice day with the boys making boats. It was so easy, I even wrote out instructions on how to do it for anyone else who wants to give it a try.
You will need:
Newspaper
A food takeaway container, plastic or foil
An ice lolly stick or piece of Dowling
Blue tack
PVC paint
Paint brush
Sellotape
Paper
Scissors
Paint or felt tips
1. Lay the old newspaper out on your work surface.
2. Turn the take away container upside down and paint the outside of it with PVC paint, in a nice bright colour. Leave to dry.
3. Paint the ice lolly stick and leave to dry.
4. In the meantime, cut your paper into a triangle shape roughly 10cmx8cmx8cm, this will be your sail.
5. Decorate your sail with a nice design using either paints or felt tips.
6. When all the paint is dry, fix your sail to the lolly stick using Sellotape.
7. Turn your takeaway container the right way up and put a ball of blue tack, the size of a marble, into the centre then press the bottom of the lolly stick into it so your sail is at the top.
8. Now you’re ready to sail your boat!
Feel free to leave a comment if you try making these boats, ours were a success, hope yours are too!
