Reading den

Hi all,

It’s been a mixed weather day today, one minute sunny, the next overcast and then a little bit of rain so I haven’t really known what to do. So we’ve had a lovely lazy day and been reading together. First of all we turned the sofas on their sides so the back is facing the ceiling and the feet are facing the wall, then covered the open end with blankets so it was all dark and cosy. We then brought the bedding down to make a nice squashy base, brought in the two table lamps and hey presto-a cosy reading den for the kids.

I popped in and joined them every so often, but mainly it was Mia reading to the rest of them. She’s so good these days, I’m so very proud of her. She was reading Lewis Carroll’s Alice in Wonderland. The pictures are just beautiful; Helen Oxenbury is such a talented illustrator. I can’t wait for the September edition of StoryBox to see her pictures in “The Growing Story”. It will be another one to add to our growing collection of her books.

The kids loved their little den so much, they’ve now got the laptop in there and are watching a dvd on it. I can’t believe they’re not fighting being in such a confined space for so long……..I might just check on them!
