Double Celebrations

Well what a momentous day today, it’s double celebrations day as it’s Bonfire night and many people will be celebrating Barack Obama becoming the first black president of the USA. He won by a rather comfortable margin by the sounds of things, so we’ll watch this space as to what he does to help the world economy.

As I said, it’s also bonfire night and we’re going to a big celebration in Lewes. There is a massive fireworks display and a famous parade through the town. The whole town is boarded up, literally, and there is a huge parade through the streets with people dressed as Vikings and carrying flame torches. It sounds very exciting so will report back about it. Thankfully my friend lives in Lewes so we are driving down straight after school as all the roads will be closed later on.

There are dressing up competitions too which sound like they’ll be fun to see.

Talking of competitions, I’ve found a great dance competition for the older kids. It’s with Dance4Life which is a charity that raises awareness about HIV and AIDS. They have a tour team that do the rounds of schools too to learn the special Dance4Life drill. It’s such a shame my kids haven’t got them coming to their school, but they’re excited about recording a video, even if they’re too young to win a prize. They want to tell their friends they’re famous for having a video on the internet. Anyway you can enter via the Facebook fanpage.
