Some brilliant news! My darling daughter’s netball team won their first ever match last night, so we had home-made pizza for dinner and ice-cream for pudding as our celebration! I was so proud of her.
Well, with half-term looming next week it looks like I’m going to be spending the rest of this week getting ahead with all my various jobs around the house in preparation for having the brood in! In addition to thinking up various activities to keep them occupied and prevent any kind of cabin fever setting in. Unfortunately it doesn’t look like the weather is going to be up to much so indoor activities are a must. Sadly Centre Parcs just isnt going to happen right now; we really need to put out extra money into the house. I’m off to research some other fun things to do now! We had a great time at water world recently, so perhaps a revisit may be in order! I must see what is showing at the cinema too, it’s been ages since we had a visit.
Well it has been a real roller-coaster weekend!
Firstly we had an amazing time at the cinema on Saturday with the Kids finally watching Ice Age 3. It was so, so good, especially in 3D. As we entered the cinema we were all given our 3D glasses which makes the event of all going to the cinema even more exciting. The film was hysterically funny at times, plus the little baby dinosaurs were a big winner on the cute factor. I think this is a film that really does have something for everyone and all members of the family will love it. It has some really good family values too, which is always a bonus. Having seen the movie now it has put a lot of the stuff we learned about 3D animation from DiscoveryBox last month into perspective. I am now really hoping we do well in the Ice Age 3 competition! So all of that was all very heart-warming and fun!
On the other hand, I found watching the males Wimbledon final very emotional! I really got behind Roddick and really wanted him to win. When it got to the final set, I thought it was clear there was nothing between them but felt Roddick deserved it more and seemed like it meant so much more to him. To lose the way he did was really hard to watch!
I was also very disappointed the Michael Jackson was not number one in the singles chart, being pipped to the top position by Cascada; a group I have never heard of and doubt very much will make musical history. A great shame I felt.
Seeing as we have been so busy though this weekend I now have a gigantic pile of ironing to go and do as I was very naughty and neglected this task over the weekend. With six of us in the house you wouldn’t believe how fast it can build up!

How silly am I! I got the dates wrong, and sadly, Ice Age 3 isn’t out until the 1st of July (not June). It’s a good job IU checked We are still getting our fix of Ice Age from the science section in DiscoveryBox this month – the behind the scenes in the studio is really fascinating. Nevermind, we decided to stop in and play some games which we hadn’t done as a family for a while and we actually had great fun playing cranium. So it wasn’t all bad at all. I also watched the apprentice interviews, which was highly entertaining. I have no idea who I want to win now, they all seem so untrustworthy!

As Michael has recently changed his phone contract to Orange, we decided to try out the 2-4-1 deal they run on a Wednesday last night and went out to the cinema. We opted to see Monsters vs. Aliens (for the kids of course!) and it was jolly good fun in fact! I really enjoy watching all the animated films with the children’s and they certainly loved it. I think my favourite ones are the Shrek movies and the Ice age movies as I think they are very clever in that the are great for the kids but also sneak in a fair few jokes for the adults too. I think there is another Shrek movie out next year and the third Ice Age film is out this summer.
I can’t wait as I really loved the first two films, and I find Ray Romano (the voice of the Manny) very funny. I think we will definitely be taking advantage of the Orange offer again as when there are six of you going to the cinema there are big savings to be had!

Hello everyone!
I hope you all had a lovely weekend. We had lots of fun here, going on a lovely walk on Saturday all together and making the most of all the lovely sunshine we had this weekend. I made a delicious bean casserole which I served with some spicy wedges and sour cream which everybody loved and it was very healthy and great for vegetarians too. After our wholesome feast we went out to the cinema to see the new Disney film “Bolt” which was actually very good indeed. Of course the kids loved the animation and Disney wonderful story, but with the likes of John Travolta behind the voices its very entertaining for parents too. I would definately recommend it as a fun family excursion.
We also found a little hegdhog in the garden yesterday; as it isnt normal to see them in the day I was worried that he might not be well, so we left a little bit of good out for him and have called him Bolt. I’ll be sure to keep my eye out for him, if I see him too often I think I may take him to the vets to make sure he is ok. He is very cute; I think they are such lovely animals who deserve a lot of respect and protection from us.
Well the minced pies went down a treat at the weekend I’m pleased to say. The kitchen was an absolute mess but well worth it to see the little ones having a blast on such a cold weekend.
We also decided to go to the cinema to see Madagascar: Escape 2 Africa. It was actually hilarious and I think David Schwimmer has a dreamy voice, but I won’t let the kids know that was the reason I took them to see it….nor Michael for that matter!!!

Sunday was big family roast day again. It’s getting very hard to please all the kids these days as sometime they’re vegetarian, sometimes not. Sometimes they eat cabbage, sometimes not. I decided to settle for a nut roast, carrots, peas, broccoli and roast potatoes. Thankfully this pleased everyone and it meant I had the afternoon off-kids and Michael on washing up duties!
Does anyone else give their children chores to do for their pocket money? I give them simple jobs like keeping their room tidy, making their beds and washing up and sweeping the kitchen (this is on a rota) so they learn that Mum doesn’t automatically have to do everything and they have to earn their pocket money. I hope I’m not too mean on them!!
My sister Jen is coming up this weekend with her boys and I’m so excited. I’ve been wracking my brains as to what we can do with everyone. We’ve got some lovely country walks we can do if it’s sunny, however if it’s rainy, that’s when problems start. We don’t want to be stuck in the house all day, and then I remembered the little ones have been on about a film they’ve wanted to see for ages now, Bee Movie. It’s about a little bee that graduates from university, but doesn’t want to work for Honex and be a honey maker like all the other bees. So he starts talking to a human, Vanessa, who works at a florist and they become friends. After she tells him that humans have been eating for centuries, he sets about suing the human race for their crime. It sounds quite cute and has a U rating so we can all go along.
I also want to make a special meal that everyone will enjoy, but her boys are vegetarian. They haven’t been forced by Jen in any way, she still eats meat, they made their own mind up after seeing a repeat of Jamie’s School Dinners which was originally on Channel 4. They got so upset about what goes into the turkey dinosaurs and they haven’t eaten meat since. I think it’s brilliant they are so strong willed.
I discovered that Quorn make meat-free meatballs, so the easiest meal I can think of is Quorn meatballs in tomato sauce with spaghetti. Surely everyone will like that.

Right I have to go and feed the chickens quickly. They’re very happy by the way in their new home and you can definitely taste the difference between their eggs and supermarket eggs. Talking of free range eggs, this is a great article about supermarkets phasing out caged hen eggs over the next two years. What good news……finally!
