Are we nearly there yet?

Christmas Game For Kids

The weekend is nearly here and even thought it is going to be another cold and wintery one we have lots of fun things planned indoors so it is all good.

We are obviously all looking forward to the X factor this week; following Jamie’s shock departure last week who knows what will happen! I am starting to predict Olly, Stacey and Jedward being in the final. Then again I change my mind every week. I am hoping the single will be number one this week in the charts as all the money goes to Great Ormond Street Hospital, a very worthy cause!

We will also be playing lots of games and having lot of general indoor fun. I came across a new game from StoryBox as well yesterday which will be fun for the younger two. Plus it is totally free, which in the run up to Christmas is a winner for me! The game features the StoryBox Favorite character Polo and is very interactive for the kids. They can “hunt” for the Christmas shapes around Polo’s tree-house.

A little Merrier today

It is to be said I am a giant kid at heart and I really do love Christmas and all that goes along with it. Having started the week feeling a little glum I am now starting to do the odd bit here and there in preparation for Christmas; with four children and and a husband trust me it’s better to be prepared! Yesterday I did collect a few chestnuts but in all honesty it was a bit too late. I will go and buy some later today to make my chestnut stuffing mix. All the shops are now displaying all the Christmas goods and the lights are up around the town. I know we are barely half way throughout November but it is starting to feel more and more Christmasy by the day!

A much better day

Well, thank goodness it is all good news from my house today!

James the hamster was suffering with a case of constipation, and the vet says he will be just fine. I feel very guilty of course, as the suspected cause is too much dry food. James is going on a diet now… He had some medicine, and we are now going to feed him more vegetables instead of the dry food. Apparently it is just one of those things really, but we are going to be very cautious in future.

The other good news is that my eldest daughter Ellie, has just phoned me to say that the parts in the school play have been announced today and she has been given the part of Dorothy! She is so thrilled, she gets her script today and rehearsals are going to start on Monday. I just hope its not all going to be too much for her, as she has started on the Netball team as well, and is starting to get a little but more homework to do this academic year; all preparing her for the start of secondary school next year I suppose. Still though, I am one very proud Mummy today!

Guess who is going to be making one of these then soon?

Have a lovely weekend everyone!

What a find!

We had a real rare treat last night I have to blog about today; we all went out for a delicious meal. I think Michael had picked up on the fact that I was feeling a little bit worn out and could have done with a night off cooking so we went to try out a new all you can eat indian buffet that has opened up locally. The words “all you can eat” and “Indian buffet” had obviously been tempting Michael since the place opened up a few months ago. Although it looks fairly simple, or even cheap and cheerful from the outside, the quality of food was just amazing, and the price was exceptional; just £5.99 per person.

The dishes were all really good quality and there was a great variety which meant there was plenty of choice for the kids too, who aren’t too keen on overly spicey food. We also had a huge amount of pickles, chutneys and other sauces as well as naan breads and salad. To be honest with you I really couldn’t believe it, for the price especially. If we had wanted to have a take away of that quality and amount it would have probably cost twice what we paid plus it was really lovely to all go out as a family for a treat.

we will definitely be going back!

A hiking we shall go!

I got a phone call from my friend last night inviting us to go hiking this weekend all the way up in the Derbyshire Dales (and stopping over night in a country pub/b&b). As we have decided not to go abroad this year (sadly we really can’t afford it with four kids) I have decided we will be spending more weekends doing fun stuff like this instead. To stop in the B&B is going to be very reasonable so it looks like we will be having a fun mini-break! The kids have never done anything like this, hopefully we won’t have too much complaining! Hopefully their new Bayard Books will keep them very happy on the journey and some delicious home-cooked british country pub food will please Michael very much indeed! Lets hope for some good weather too!

Have a lovely weekend and I will tell you all about our time in the countryside next week.

Weekend Fun

Hello everyone. The kids were still playing their gladiator games last night (bless them) so I can foresee a lot of fun and games this weekend as we move our Colesseum into the garden! I am also hoping we will get time to have a go at doing some arts and crafts as inspired by the latest AdventureBox book.

I suppose it will be dictated somewhat by the weather – if it’s lovely and sunny I’m sure we will all be out enjoying the springtime. I’ll let you know on Monday about all our adventures.
Have a lovely weekend everyone!

I’m going for a boogie!

Goodness, I can’t believe it’s Friday already!

This week has gone by so fast. Whilst I was being so morbid yesterday, today I am all about living life to the max! I am going out to a friend’s birthday party tomorrow and we are even going out to a nightclub! I haven’t been in one for some years now I must admit, but this place is apparently quite “older crowd” friendly. It’s a girly night, so Michael bless him is stopping in to look after the children for me; he has been such an angel lately, I know I’m a very lucky lady! We are going to Pizza Express to start with too, as they have got a very good offer on at the moment . So I’m quite excited about my big girls night out – it has certainly been a while. I’ll have all the goss for you in my next blog to tell you how it goes!

By the way remember me saying how excited I was about Michael Morpurgo being in AdventureBox next month – well I found you can get the copy here for free! I already get my books (which my kids love) every month as I work with Bayard, but for those of you who don’t have subscriptions this is a great way for you to check out this great kids books for free!

Cloud Nine

Hello everyone,

I hope you had a great weekend and a lovely Valentines day! I have had such a lovely weekend here. On Valentines day Michael really did come up with the goods, bless his heart. While I had thought we might all have a lovely family meal, he has obviously been scheming for quite some time! If you remember a while ago we went for a romantic weekend in Bath, which really put a lot of romance back in our relationship, something that is quite hard when you have four children under the age of twelve!

Anyway, on Saturday morning, he told me to stay in bed and brought me breakfast in bed with a rose on my little tray. It was so lovely. I thought he was going to join me back in bed but he told me to stay and relax with a deviish grin on his face! So I did as I was told, and when he returned he told me he had just dropped the kids off at my Mothers house for the weekend; they were in on it too! I was then told to pack my overnight bag, and before I knew it we were off. I had no idea where we were going, and I did find the whole thing a little extravagant, but without sounding like a hypocrite it was so wonderful to be treated like this. We then arrived in Bath, which was so lovely and romantic. We checked into a lovely little B and B on the Wells Road, which is just a few minutes walk to the city. It was very reasonable Michael assured me, but lovely and we had an en-suite.

I haven’t even got to the best bit yet, in the evening we had dinner at non other than The Royal Crescent Hotel; that really was extravagant but an evening I will never forget. It was so grand and the food was to die for. If you are looking for a very special evening, then look no further, it was just magical and by far the best Valentines Day ever. I’m quite sure we couldn’t afford it, but Michael insisted I deserved it and he has been doing quite well at work recently; I really couldn’t of been happier.
