Are we nearly there yet?

That Friday Feeling

Weekend nearly upon us again! Where do the weeks go? The house is starting to look a little like santa’s grotto with all the decorations the kids have done! I do love it though, it feels really special.

Apart from having a go at the discoverybox books green competition this weekend there is still a lot of shopping to do! Plus I think I’m going to have a go at making the first batch of mince pies with the children; delicious festive fun! And what better way to help beat the credit crunch than Delia’s traditional recipe which costs 54p! I’ve never tried it before but anyway to get away with being a bit thrifty at the moment is a big help! I’ll let you know how this batch goes down!

Yummy!

Yummy!

Rainy Festival Weekend

Well what a weekend! I don’t know whether to laugh or cry about it yet. We didn’t get back until early Monday morning because the car got flooded in and stuck in the mud bath that was the Beautiful Days Festival car park! The festival was brilliant and we had lots of fun.

It hammered it down pretty much the whole time and on the first night the boy’s tent got flooded and they had to come in with Michael and I. It was very cosy to say the least. It was hopeless to try and dry the tent as there was no break in the weather so we resigned to sleeping with the boys the second night too. We moved all the bedding to the cars during the day just to be safe as we didn’t want anymore wet things!

The Levellers were the absolute highlight for me and they released a new album, Letters from the Underground earlier this month too so they played tracks from that. The kids were impressed that I knew the words to some of the older songs too.

So yesterday was a lazy day as we didn’t wake up until fairly late because of our late arrival home.

We made fairy cakes in the afternoon and are just about to eat them once I’ve posted this, so I’d better scoot quickly or there won’t be any left for me!

Beautiful Days Festival

Hi again,

I’ve been umm’ing and ahhhh’ing about whether to take up the tickets I was offered by my very close friend, to join her and her kiddos at the Beautiful Days festival this weekend in Devon. It’s a sort of mini Glastonbury.

I think it would be amazing to go to and Jen, my sister went last year and loved it, but I’m just worried about the weather. You see we would have to camp down there, which as a family, we love to do, but when there is rain involved, I tend to get a grumpy. I don’t want to ruin it for everyone else by sulking that my trousers are wet and my feet are cold.

Plus you have to be lots more organised and have several spare changes of clothes for everyone. I think I’m just being a misery guts though, as I know it would be a great weekend away. They have a great line up, such as Supergrass, Idlewild, Seth Lakeman and the Levellers are playing, as they are the sponsors of the event and loads of others too. I loved the Levellers back in the day, when I was a bit more hip. I hope to impress the kids by knowing the words to their songs!

Talking of music and bands, I do hope Fliss’s entry for the AdventureBox competition reached them safely, she’s so excited about maybe winning some Caribbean music of her own. Apparently the cd’s she’s got from Santa before, are so “uncool”. I’ll remember to pass that on to him!

Right, I had better start packing I suppose and surprise the kids with this festival!
