Halloween is creeping up on us and I’ve decided to hold a Halloween party at our house on Friday 31st. Partly because I love being a hostess and partly because I don’t think it’s safe for the kids to go out trick or treating in this day and age. Obviously I would go with them if they went, but you just don’t know how some people are going to react.
So we’re having a party at home and the kids are each inviting 4 friends, so the house will be fairly packed with screaming children running around.
I’m going to decorate the house properly with lots of hollowed out pumpkins. I’ve been thinking about finger food too and have so far come up with witch’s fingers. These will be made sponge fingers covered with green icing and black icing at the end, to look like the nail. The Activity Village, have a savoury recipe which is also good fun.
I also like the Halloween jellies, buy some little plastic spiders and pop them into the bottom of individual clear cups before pouring in a green jelly mix.
I thought of another spider food idea too. Buy some teacakes (chocolate covered marshmallows). Put two blobs of white icing sugar on for the eyes and add two smaller black icing blobs to make the pupils. Use black pipe cleaners, bent in half for the legs, just insert these into the body of the spider. Be sure the kids don’t eat the pipe cleaners though!
